George earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1991 and his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1998. George worked at the Parker-Hannifin Packing Division in Salt Lake City, Utah concurrent to earning his master's degree. At Parker-Hannifin George was the Manager of Polymer Research and Development and was responsible for developing and manufacturing new polymeric materials for use in the hydraulic and pneumatic sealing industry. He was also active with the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association and acted as the Program Manager - New Materials Processes and Technology.
In 1998 George began working with the Dunlop Slazenger Group who at that time designed and manufactured Dunlop, Slazenger, and Maxfli branded golf balls. While at Dunlop Slazenger, George acted as the Director of Research and Development and co-authored several patents and patent applications dealing with polymers and their use in golf ball design. In addition, George was the Director of Organizational Development for the company as the management team led the business through a turn around effort.
When the Dunlop Slazenger design and manufacturing plant was outsourced to India in 2005, George and his family moved to Charlotte, where George filled the role of Technical Director for SEM Products. While at SEM, George's research and development work focused on the design and manufacture of solvent-borne and water-borne coatings, adhesives based on epoxy, urethane, and acrylate chemistry, and on aerosol technology.
In 2006, George and Jan launched American Epoxy Floors, Incorporated. American Epoxy Floors designs and installs high performance concrete coatings in the residential, commercial, and industrial markets of Charlotte.
George's role at Sugar Creek Garden Center chiefly deals with the design and implementation of business and information systems and financial management.
